About this blog

This blog is about the Goyt Valley,and anything else I choose to write about. The Goyt is one of my favourite places to walk and to think, not because of the spectacular scenery, but because of its accessibility. The walks are not great stomping route marches, that take days of planning and a day to do. I can do one before work, one after work, and don't tell my boss but one during work! In the summer its full of curlews and sky larks, in the winter its quieter, but always good for the soul.

The Birdwatcher: In a ideal world I would be a poet living on a small holding in the Peak District with a couple of Donkeys in the fields and a small flock of tame sheep for Lilly the Collie to round up This dream gets further away as a. It becomes clear that I cannot write poetry and b. The price of small holdings in the Peak District are now well beyond my reach. Oh well, one can dream suppose. :)
