It looks as if they have decided not to take up residence in the nesting box after all. We have seen them about but not anywhere near the box. I suspect that our increased use of the garden in the warm weather has put them off, or it could have been the close proximity of a lot of noisy sparrows. Hopefully we will continue to see them about, they are beautiful and fascinating little birds.

That's a shame! That happened to me last year, thought I had something nesting in my bird house, but then it left. I do agree with you, I think the sparrows scare them off.
I thought I was going to have some chickadees nesting in my roses, because they've been fluttering all in them and tweeting furiously. I finally realized yesterday that they are furiously pulling apart the pantyhose and trouser socks I use to tie the roses up - and making off with bits of them for nesting. I was a bit disappointed at first, but it is pretty funny to watch them try to tear up the hose.
I think Blue tits have a bit of a reputation for starting a nest then moving to another one.
Perhaps the Chickadees have a developed fashion sense :)
